About Max

Max Amillion

Max Amillion
It all started in Honolulu Hawaii. Max was born Oct. 18th 1960 as Mike Gibson, Son of Edward and Sunny Gibson. Dad was a dark and handsome beach boy while Mom was a starry eyed, raven haired beauty from the mainland. There would be three children in all with Max right there in the middle. Over the course of his early years he would be exposed to a range of music that would eventually lead to an early appreciation for all types of music. With no formal training he would learn to sing just about any type of song he was exposed to whether it was Hawaiian, Country, Rock or Standard. Ultimately it would be the standards that he would focus on and in doing so it would be the Standards that he would build his reputation upon.

From time to time Max will be labeled as a Sinatra Impersonator by well meaning fans who try to describe what he does on stage. The fact is that Max does interpret these songs very closely to original artists versions but it’s strictly from a desire to perform each song in the best possible way he knows how. The name Sinatra is dropped so often because most of what Max sings were songs made popular by the legendary crooner. The fact is that he feels just as passionate about many of the great songs preformed by other giants of that era. Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, Mel Torme, Tony Bennet, Sammy Davis Jr. and Matt Monroe to name a few.

He continues to derive great enjoyment in seeking out lost gems of yesteryear and either adding them into his act or simply marveling at the poetic brilliance that so many of them have to offer. He finds it exciting to think that he could search until his time was over and still not hear them all.

As a performer well known in San Francisco’s South Bay Area Max is thrilled to be making his mark now in Nevada. He loves the music. He loves the people who love the music. He love putting on his Tux and stepping on stage and he gives thanks every day that the standards are enjoying a resurgence of popularity so that there is actually a great demand for live music of this nature. When all is said and done you can rest assured that he will look back some day and say that this was the time of my life. If you share a deep appreciation of the standards he wants you to come celebrate with him.
